RESILIENCE OF UKRAINE’S EXPORT-ORIENTED FOOD SUPPLY CHAINS UNDER EXTERNAL ECONOMIC AND LOGISTICAL SHOCKS
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the resilience of Ukraine’s export-oriented food supply chains and to substantiate directions for its enhancement in light of new logistical, economic, and institutional conditions. The methodological framework of the study is based on a combination of general scientific and specialized methods. In particular, a systems approach was applied to analyze the structure of food supply chains; comparative analysis was used to assess changes in their functioning before and during the war; statistical analysis was employed to generalize the dynamics of exports and logistics indicators. The findings reveal that Ukraine’s export-oriented food supply chains have undergone not only disruptions but also a profound structural transformation that has altered their fundamental configuration and operational logic. It has been established that a key consequence of wartime shocks was the breakdown of the single-channel logistics model centered on seaports and the emergence of a multi-channel system incorporating rail, road, and river transport routes. The study demonstrates that while logistics diversification enhances system flexibility, it is accompanied by rising costs and reduced efficiency of export operations. It is further substantiated that contemporary food supply chains are characterized by the fragmentation of logistics flows, which complicates coordination but at the same time reduces critical dependence on individual transport nodes. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of applying the proposed approaches to develop strategies for enhancing the resilience of Ukraine’s export-oriented food supply chains. In particular, this concerns the diversification of logistics, the development of multimodal transportation, the improvement of the institutional environment, and the strengthening of risk management practices, which will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and ensuring the stability of foreign trade.
